Preparations and birthday wishes

A short post here, while Owen and I ready ourselves for our first air travel tomorrow. First, we'd like to wish Papa Dusty an early Happy 65th Birthday!!! We're sorry we're missing the birthday weekend family fun in the Soo, but hopefully we'll be having our own in Florida. Next week, Nate will have a glimpse into what life was like before wife and baby, as he'll be holding down the home-front while we're away.

Here's a studious looking shot of the professor and his son, reading Perspective's magazine, which covers news from our grad. school college at NC State University.

And a cute belly shot, with the ever present drool waterfall.

More after our return from Florida!

5 months old

We tested out a new food today, Owen's 5 month birthday - bananas!!! It appears that junior loves them as much as mom does. This whole eating endeavor is going to be a fun and messy affair...

Owen 'talks' more and more, in his oh-so-cute low moans. Here's more conversation while he spend some belly time on Dad:

And a glimpse at his early sitting-up abilities:

And last, Owen would also like to send out early Happy Valentine's Day love to everyone.

Bathtime fun....finally

Bath time for the first 3+ months of Owen's life was not much fun for any of us. Owen would voice his displeasure with shrieks and crying, and we would race to clean the important parts and move on to happier things! But now that he's gotten a good layer of baby fat under him, and seems to delight in being undressed, bath time is finally a happy time. Or at the very least, it's not a sad time.

Apparently Punxatawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter this morning, so the snow we're receiving today is fitting. But overall, it's been a pretty easy winter by Green Bay standards - snow accumulation is way down compared to last year, and though the temperatures are downright frigid lately, February should bring some warmer days.

Owen and I are counting down the days until our trip to south Florida later this month to hang with family in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. It'll be my first solo air travel with the baby (wish me luck), his first dose of warm sunshine, and my Grandma's chance to show off her great-grandson to all the other condo regulars. We're also eager to see my good friend Emma, who's planning to come over to Ft. Lauderdale for a few days from Sarasota. 18 more days....
