More snow

On Saturday, big white flakes started falling around 9am. By the late afternoon, we had nearly 7" of snow at our house, and this was the third snow event of the month! Good thing we didn't sell off our snow shovel when we departed Green Bay....And speaking of Green Bay, the snowy setting made it all that much more cozy and fun to watch the excitement of the Packers victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday (as did the beer brats prepared by our friends, who are former Wisconsinites themselves).

Here are some photos of our snowy Saturday, and of our budding bird watcher.

Snow Day!

What a treat to wake up to big white snowflakes blanketing the yard! Snow events are a rare occurrence in eastern North Carolina. Owen enjoyed watching the snow fall from the dining room window, and since the NOAA lab closed down at 11am, Nate was home in time for lunch.

Today is Owen's 16 month birthday. These days, he's pulling himself up on all sorts of furniture, starting to climb the stairs (a milestone I greet with both excitement and trepidation), and saying his favorite word, again, and again, and again..."ba-ba-ba-ba-ba." Gone are the days of other consonants, he's decided that all he needs is a solid "B" sound, and an insanely-high-pitched squeal of delight. Watch and see:
