May days

Owen turned 8 months old yesterday and Nate is down to his last week of the semester....time is cruising right along. As soon as Nate turns in his final grades, we'll hop a plane to Rhode Island for my brother Joe's wedding and a nice vacation with family.

Nate and I are a first-time aunt/uncle! Baby Katherine "Kate" Ann Bacheler was born on Friday, April 30. Dan and Molly see to be handling their new parenting adventures with ease, and from her first days at home, Baby Kate has been known to sleep for up to 7 hours at night!!

Nate made me to a delicious strawberry french toast breakfast on my first Mother's Day and I'm nearly done with the dark chocolate that accompanied my card from him. To top off a nice day, he made us a delicious pasta dinner, too what a husband! And my thanks for all the other nice cards, family!

Owen and I began swimming lessons at the YMCA a few weeks ago - today will be our 4th class. Owen seems fairly neutral about the whole thing - his mood definitely dampens when the water is chillier, but he mostly tolerates the back and forth kicking, arm motions, and water play. We hope to get Nate in the pool with us for the last class to get some photo documentation.

The sitting skills are still being honed - see below for a play-by-play of the inevitable front-fold.

And Owen loves action play more and more. Here he is enjoying some 'airplane' with his momma!
