Spring is here

Sorry for the long delay since my last post. Life has been marching right along like normal. The azaleas are all ablaze in eastern NC, and I bought our first fresh strawberries at a local farm stand this morning. Springtime also means turkey season and I'm pleased to announce that Nate will be bringing home some fresh meat after a successful hunt this morning, due in large part to the stellar guiding services of our dear friend (and master outdoorsman) Brian.

But you don't care about azaleas, strawberries, or turkeys - you want to known what's new with Owen! Well, walking practice continues, though I think we're still a ways off from hands-free ambulation. But we'll get there. Owen is certainly becoming more opinionated these days - he swats your hand away if he doesn't want "help" doing something, and he points emphatically at the things he does want, unless he can sign for it (he knows "eat" and "more" and "please" very well, and uses them regularly now, which is pretty cute to see!). He is obsessed with fruit, especially oranges and bananas. I actually have to hide the fruit bowl from time to time now, because if we're in the kitchen eating snacks, all he does is point at the fruit and sign "eat more". If only he felt the same way about vegetables, which he's taken to refusing as of late....

We haven't taken too many pictures recently, but here's a great image that Nate took of Owen a few weeks back, during one of their late afternoon backyard hang-out sessions.
